Ok, so I’ve been blaming prego-brain for a lot of things lately and I’m going to blame it for the fact that I haven’t posted in my blog for weeks. I apologise to my die-hard fans. You know who you are.
16 weeks and 1 day. Wow. How fast did that time fly by? Having Christmas and New Years in the middle helped a little but I have a feeling I’m going to staring down the barrel of 40 weeks before I even know it. Now THAT is scary. I don’t think I’m fully prepared, mentally OR physically, for the birth but how hard can it be? (Every mother I know has just virtually slapped me for saying that.) I know it’s going to be hard. I don’t doubt that for a second and I don’t doubt that I will ever be fully prepared for what lies ahead but I can only do the best I can do. I’m not scared about the birth. A little nervous and anxious maybe but not scared. Heaps of women do this every day and they come out alright so I think my chances of getting through it are pretty good. And I really can’t wait to meet our baby so the pain will all be worth it in the end. I can’t wait to see who Bubs will look like!
We have started renovating the nursery and so far we’ve painted the walls and ceiling which were purple to white and white white (I’ll explain later), I’ve started on a border for the wall using all different shapes in different colours and we’ve built a wardrobe but still need to get the doors made. Here are the pics of what we’ve done so far. Ok, about the white and white white. You might not see it in the photos but the walls are a different colour to the ceiling. The walls are called ‘White Mask’ but to describe it better, think ‘Egg Shell White’. The ceiling white is called Vivid White and it’s just white. As white as white gets anyway. It looks great in real life but the photos don’t do it any justice. It’s going to take me a little while to get all the shapes finished but that should look great too. A friend has kindly offered to paint us some canvasses for the nursery to go with the shapes. She sent me drawings of what they’re going to look like and they are going to be awesome! See the pics below.
We’ve purchased a few things for Bubs but not nearly everything we need. We bought a new cot in Heritage timber (Chocolate coloured) with a matching change table. We bought a funky pram with reversible handle. We bought a 3-in-1 Portable Cot which matches the pram. And I’ve also bought quite a few clothes and bits and pieces like nappies, singlets, jumpsuits, bibs, etc. Mum & Leon have offered to buy Bubs a bouncinette (How nice is that?) so that’ll be one less thing to worry about before Bubs gets here. I’ve posted photos of a lot of what I’ve bought here.
I’ve just booked our first appointment with the hospital where Bubs is to be born. The hospital meeting and our 20 week scan is on the same day – 14th February – St Valentines Day! Looking forward to seeing how much Bubs has grown since the 12 weeks scan (going to be quite a lot considering the size of my belly these days.) Not looking forward to drinking all that fluid again and not being able to pee. I’m hoping to get some 3D photos this time but I’m not sure if they can do it. Can’t hurt to ask though.
That’s about all I have for this entry. God only knows when I’ll write again but keep an eye out anyway. Oh, and don’t forget to check out Bubs Page.
Who am I? I am many things but first and foremost, I am the wife of Keith and the mother of two little boys, Harley and Levi. I am also a WAHM, an avid reader, experimental cook, self-confessed geek, couch potato, Facebook addict, digital scrapbooker and of course, a blogger.
