Harley has been having solids for about a week now and he LOVES it! I couldn't believe how much he liked his food that I had to take a video of it (check out the link on the left).
I mentioned his not being content after having drank his 240ml bottles every 3 hours to my Child Health Nurse and a Tresillian Nurse and they both suggested that I should try him with solids.
So, I took it really slowly at first and just gave him plain Farex with formula milk for once a day for two days and continued with his bottles as normal. After a couple of days I started adding a little Heinz pureed fruit (the 4-6 month range) to it which he GOBBLED up and started giving it to him for lunch as well. Now he has a bottle at 7am, Farex with pureed fruit for breakfast at around 8am, another bottle at 11am, a 110gm bottle of fruit for lunch at 12pm (but still wants more...!), another bottle at 4pm (usually give him half) and some homemade pureed vegetables for dinner around 5pm with the rest of his bottle before bed. I swear this kid is a bottomless pit.
He's had no allergic reactions and seems to be digesting it just fine (he has 1-3 poos a day now). He's also sleeping better at night (from about 7pm till 5:30am) and taking longer naps during the day (around 2 hours) so it must be having a good effect on him. I'm not considering adding anything else to his diet for a little while until I see how he goes with this for a few weeks.
Apprently my little brother was the same and so was Keith when he was a baby. If my "little" brother is anything to go by, Harley is going to be a 6ft monster! o_O
Who am I? I am many things but first and foremost, I am the wife of Keith and the mother of two little boys, Harley and Levi. I am also a WAHM, an avid reader, experimental cook, self-confessed geek, couch potato, Facebook addict, digital scrapbooker and of course, a blogger.
